The RemembranceSpecial Giving Opportunity — IRA Rollover Gifts — Expires December 31, 2007

In 2006, Congress changed the rules for making gifts from individual retirement accounts. Now and until December 31, 2007, if you are age 70 1/2 or older you can transfer up to $100,000 from your IRA directly to a charity without increasing your taxable income or paying any additional tax.

It's a simple, easy gift. If you no longer want the required income distribution from your IRA and want to support the National Veterans Freedom Park Foundation, this is an easy way to do it. All you do is contact your IRA custodian and request a specified amount up to $100,000 be transferred directly to the NVFP fund. The NVFP will get valuable financial support and you avoid additional tax. (It's a good idea to advise the NVFP in advance to expect this gift, so that it can be correctly attributed.) Another possible benefit may apply to those donors who have made other charitable gifts this year and have reached the cash gift 50% AGI deduction limit. Because the IRA rollover gift does not qualify for a charitable deduction, it does not count agaisnt the 50% AGI deduction limit. So, if you have made other charitable cash gifts and have reached the 50% AGI limit, you can still make an IRA rollover gift without paying any more tax.
